The Out of Africa Missions is a non-denominational
Christian organisation providing extra schooling and sports for
young people from townships in George, Western Cape in South Africa.
The aim of the Sports Academy is to transform and develop the
next generation of young people through sports, whereby they teach
students the value and responsibly of being part of a team as
well as being accountable to themselves and the rest of their
team-mates. It is anticipated that those on the program will set
an example to their peers and become catalysts for change in their
school, sports team and community.

The touring party attended schools in Northern Ireland
and spent a day at St Mary's University College where they were
taught ceili dancing by the PGCE students, were coached netball
by Elaine McLaughlin, played a netball match against the college
netball team, attended a traditional music session in the student
centre, attended gymnastics class with a year 1 PE class and were
coached in Gaelic Games by Paddy Tally and his students. The aim
of the day was to introduce the South African girls to Irish culture
and to enable them to become part of our college community for
the day.
