The Minister of Education, Caitríona Ruane, was welcomed by Seán Ó Coinn, Chief Executive of Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta and Dr John Sweeney, Senior Tutor for Academic Affairs at St Mary’s.

As part of the conference proceedings, the Irish-medium education team at St Mary’s organised a successful Irish language course for classroom assistants, the first of a two-day intensive course on language enhancement.

The occasion was marked by the launch of a new teaching resource for Fónaic na Gaeilge. This resource was developed by Jacaí de Brún, Education Officer with the College Aisaonad lán-Ghaeilge, in partnership with the Education and Library Boards.
