The 2014 STEM Teacher Award was made to Mrs Karen Anderson from Assumption Grammar School during the Sentinus Young Innovators exhibition held on Friday, 20 June in the Odyssey Centre. The Sentinus Young Innovators event is one of the largest regional STEM events in the United Kingdom. In recent years it has grown to involve over 3,000 young people from schools and colleges all over Ireland.

This annual award is made by St Mary's University College in recognition of teachers’ efforts to develop an integrated learning approach to STEM education. Science and technology have an obvious, integrated and integral part to play in the understanding and application of engineering-based knowledge and all that discipline does to advance the human condition. This is a principle which can act as a catalyst for the future development of effective STEM-driven, pedagogical practices within schools.
