Belfast Hills Partnership - Undergraduate Skills Programme

Final year BA (Hons) Liberal Arts students, Liam Kearney and Treasach Gatt, were selected to complete the Belfast Hills Partnership Undergraduate Skills Programme alongside geography students from Queen’s University Belfast.

This week-long undergraduate skills programme seeks to introduce students to a wide variety of graduate career opportunities as well as to provide the chance to develop practical skills and knowledge of the conservation sector.

As geography students, Liam and Treasach relished the opportunity to explore and experience aspects of landscape assessment, practical conservation skills, environmental education, various survey techniques and the role of interpretation in the environmental sector.

The course was based at the Belfast Hills Partnership offices at Hannahstown Hill, Belfast and was led by the Outreach Officer, Jo Bolan. This is the second year the programme has been run, resulting once again in extremely positive feedback from the students, who were challenged, gained insights into the environmental sector and had lots of fun while learning.
