Student Awards

Before the Mass for the Dedication of Studies at St Paul’s Church on Thursday, 24 October, three awards were made to students.

The first award went to a current second-year Liberal Arts student, Kavita Thanki, and is an acknowledgement of her high performance in year one of the degree programme. This award was sponsored by the First Trust Bank and presented by Janet Walsh. The recipient of the award has lived both in the north of Ireland and overseas and is currently studying Liberal Arts with English. She attended Methodist College, Belfast, and the United World College of the Atlantic in Wales.

The second award was sponsored by NASUWT and recognises the top achiever in last year’s first-year education programme. The winner was Conor Cassidy, a second-year BEd degree student specialising in primary school teaching and currently studying mathematics. Conor, who is from Carryduff and who and attended Our Lady and St Patrick’s College, Knock, received his prize from NASUWT President, Dennis O’Hara.

The third award, given to students recognised for their assistance to other students and for involvement in the life of the College as a whole, also was sponsored by the First Trust Bank. It was presented by Janet Walsh to a fourth-year BEd degree student specialising in primary school education, Conor Quinn, who was selected by his fellow students.
