St Mary’s has a very strong tradition in gaelic games and
we are very proud of our teams. We have integrated our players
under the Gaelic Athletic Society which comprises three mens gaelic
football teams, one ladies gaelic football team, a hurling team
and a camogie team.
The St Mary’s tradition of community and togetherness is
something that we pride ourselves on and we believe that participation
in gaelic games enhances the student experience.
Playing gaelic games at St Mary’s offers students a vital
opportunity to work with some of the top coaches in Ulster, as
well as playing with some of the best up and coming talent in
the province.
If playing is not your thing, students can have a significant
role by becoming involved in club administration and helping organise
social and cultural events.
St Mary’s is fortunate to have its own GAA development
officer in Ryan Mellon. Ryan is a member of the highly successful
Tyrone County football team. Throughout this academic year, there
will be various GAA workshops running in St Mary’s dealing
with a wide range of subjects such as core stability, first aid
in sport and performance analysis. National Governing Body courses
such as, FUNdamentals, Learn to train and award 1 will also be
available to students.
For further information contact Ryan Mellon.
