NVQ Level 2 and 3 Children’s Care, Learning and Development students from the Whiterock Family Centre in Belfast and pupils from St Josephs College in Belfast recently participated in an Early Years Master Class entitled ‘The Needs of Young Learners’. The Master class was delivered by Senior Lecturer Deirdre Loughran at St. Mary’s University College in Belfast.

During the Master Class session final year BEd (Hons) student Anne Marie Hughes provided an honest, informative and realistic insight into her experience as a mature student in Higher Education.

The event was such a success that the participants have requested further Master Classes.

This quote from one of the mature participants sums up her experience: –

“I found it very inspirational, I felt at home and welcomed. This experience has made me feel that maybe I could go on to Higher Education, it has made me less afraid.”
