ActionAid is a unique partnership of
people who are campaigning for a better world. Their strategy
tackles the unacceptable truth that poverty and injustice remain

women's rights, the right to education, the right to human security
and the right to just governance.

Teacher Project
The World Studies Trust Global Teacher
Project ran from 1999 to 2005. It worked with Initial Teacher
Education and Training providers around the UK, to support the
inclusion of a global dimension in course content, and to promote
global education throughout the training of teachers. The Project
ran courses for student teachers, helped teacher trainers develop
new course content and modules, provided resources, ran 3 national
conferences and produced a book which shows how the global dimension
can enhance and complement the QTS Standards in Initial Teacher
Education and Training.

Initiatives for Children
The Peace Initiatives Institute (Pii),
located in Colorado, USA, developed the concept of using Media
Initiatives For Children (MIFC) to teach young children the value
of respecting and including others who are different from themselves.
MIFC combine mass media and classroom experience to produce measurable
change in the attitudes and behaviours of young children living
in areas of conflict. By helping to shape young children's values
and, ultimately, their perspective and actions as adults, the
full impact of MIFC on a cultural conflict may not be evidenced
for decades.

Cool Planet is primarily intended for teachers
in England, Scotland and Wales and their students. It aims to
bring the global dimension to the classroom, using the concept
of Global Citizenship.

Save The Children fights for children in
the UK and around the world who suffer from poverty, disease,
injustice and violence. Its works with them to find lifelong answers
to the problems they face.
SERVE:
development and education initiative
SERVE was founded in 2003 following the
return to Ireland of a project group of 12 young people, from
the Philippines, after a 9 week mission exposure project. Since
then, SERVE has developed and expanded its Volunteering Projects
to continue the good work it began in the Philippines and to expand
its reach to other Redemptorist-run projects throughout the developing
world.
